Meta Corp. on Wednesday unveiled updates to the company's virtual reality headset and Ray-Ban smart glasses in an attempt to show off its artificial intelligence prowess and next-generation computing platform beyond smartphones and computers.
These are the most advanced glasses the world has ever seen , and the technical challenges of making them are insane. For starters, holographic augmented reality glasses have to be glasses, not bulky headsets. Among other things, the glasses can't have wires on them, and they can't weigh more than 100 grams (3.5 ounces). In addition to interaction via voice, typing, or gestures, Orion has a “wrist neural interface” - it allows you to send brain signals to the device by converting neural signals into digital commands via a wristband. The glasses allow the AI assistant to “see what you see and hear what you hear” and help you with everyday tasks.
